What Is Plastic Surgery SEO?

Plastic surgery SEO is the practice of optimizing a plastic surgery website so it appears at the top of search results when prospective patients look for procedures you perform in the area you serve. It combines four things: building a dedicated page for every procedure and location you want to be found for, fixing the technical issues that keep surgical websites from loading quickly and being indexed properly, publishing physician-reviewed content that satisfies Google’s higher standards for health topics, and earning the local visibility and reviews that influence which surgeon a patient chooses. Done well, it produces a predictable flow of consultation requests from people who are already looking to book, without paying for every click.

TL;DR

icon number

The opportunity is real.

Americans had nearly 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures and more than 28.5 million minimally invasive procedures in 2024, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Almost all of those patients started with a search.

icon number 1

Elective means
organic matters more.

Cosmetic procedures are cash pay. There is no insurance directory sending you patients. Your visibility in search is the funnel.

icon number 2

One page per procedure,
per location.

Practices that group everything onto a single services page lose to practices that give each procedure its own home.

icon number 3

Google holds you
to a higher bar.

Cosmetic surgery is a Your Money or Your Life topic, which means credentials, authorship and citations affect whether you rank at all.

icon number 4

Your gallery is either an
asset or an anchor.

Before and after images are the most persuasive content you own and the most common cause of failed page speed scores.

icon number 5

Pricing is transparent.

Local SEO starts at $750/mo per location. Regional starts at $1,500/mo. National starts at $3,500/mo. No long-term contract.

icon number 6

Expect a ramp, not a switch.

Early movement in 30 to 90 days. Meaningful case volume usually between months 6 and 12.

Why Plastic Surgery SEO Is Not the Same As General Medical SEO

Most agencies will tell you they work with healthcare clients. Very few understand what makes an aesthetic practice different. Here is what actually changes when the patient is choosing a surgeon rather than picking a clinic that takes their insurance.

What You Get from Plastic Surgery SEO Services

Everything below is aimed at one outcome: more qualified consultation requests from patients in your market. Here is how each piece contributes.

How We Get Your Practice Ranking

Phase Timeframe What happens What you should see
Audit and baseline Weeks 1 to 3 Full technical crawl, content and competitor gap analysis, compliance review of existing claims, documented starting position A prioritized findings document you keep whether or not you continue
Technical repair Weeks 3 to 6 Speed, indexation, gallery handling, structured data, mobile experience Often the fastest movement, because most practice sites have at least one issue actively suppressing pages
Procedure content build Months 2 to 6 Procedure pages written and reviewed, internal linking, local pages for each location Steadily rising impressions, then rankings, then consult requests
Authority and iteration Ongoing Link acquisition, review generation, content refreshes, conversion testing Compounding growth and defensibility against competitors

Be skeptical of anyone promising page one in thirty days. Early indicators appear in the first month or two. Consult volume that changes how you staff your calendar usually arrives between months six and twelve.

What moves your number up or down: how competitive your market is, how many procedures and locations you want to rank for, and the condition of your existing website. A practice in Beverly Hills or Miami with six locations is a different scope from a solo practice in a mid-size metro.

For context on the wider market, rates below roughly $500 per month usually mean templated work or offshore content, which tends to be actively harmful on a Your Money or Your Life topic where quality standards are high. See full details on our pricing page.

What Return Can Your Practice Expect?

SEO is an investment, so it deserves a real projection rather than a promise. The model below is built from assumptions you can check against your own numbers. Replace them with your actual figures and the picture becomes yours rather than ours.

The assumptions

  • Average case value: $6,000. This is a placeholder. Use your own average, including facility and anesthesia if you capture them. Practices weighted toward injectables will be lower. Practices weighted toward body contouring will be higher.
  • Consultation request rate: 2% to 4% of qualified organic visitors request a consult. This is typical for a well built procedure page with a visible form and phone number.
  • Consult to procedure rate: 25% to 35%, which depends far more on your consultation process than on marketing.
  • Ramp: months 1 to 3 produce almost nothing while technical work and content publishing happen. Months 4 to 6 produce early volume. Months 7 to 12 produce the run rate shown.
placeholder image 16

Steady State At Month 12

Scenario Added organic visits per month Consult requests per month Procedures per month Added revenue per month Added revenue annualized
Conservative 250 5 1.3 $7,500 $90,000
Moderate 600 18 5.4 $32,400 $388,800
Strong 1,200 48 16.8 $100,800 $1,209,600

Against The Investment

Plan Annual cost Conservative scenario return Break-even point
Local SEO, one location $9,000 $90,000 added revenue Roughly 2 procedures per year
Regional SEO $18,000 $90,000 added revenue Roughly 3 procedures per year
National SEO $42,000 $90,000 added revenue Roughly 7 procedures per year

The honest read on this. The break-even column is the number that matters, and it is the reason aesthetic practices tend to see strong returns from SEO: when a single case is worth thousands of dollars, the program only needs to produce a handful of procedures a year to pay for itself. Everything beyond that is margin.

What this model does not promise is timing or certainty. If your market is unusually competitive, if your site has a history of technical problems, or if your consultation process leaks enquiries, results arrive slower. We would rather tell you that during the audit than after you have signed.

Getting Your Practice Recommended By AI Search

A growing share of patients now start with an AI assistant rather than a list of blue links. They ask which surgeons in their city specialize in a procedure, and they get a short answer naming two or three practices. If you are not one of them, the patient may never reach your website at all.

Being ranked and being cited are not the same thing. Google has published guidance on optimizing for generative AI search, and the practices that get named tend to share a few characteristics:

  • Clear, self-contained answers to the specific questions patients ask
  • Accurate structured data that matches what the page actually says
  • Named authors and reviewers with verifiable credentials
  • Consistent practice name, address and phone number everywhere they appear

We track which queries surface your practice in AI answers and which surface competitors, then work the gap. If you want a baseline before committing to anything, our AI Visibility Tool will show you where you currently stand.

Why Practices Choose Lead to Conversion

  • We have been doing healthcare search for 20 years

Founded in 2006. Most of the websites we work on belong to healthcare organizations: aesthetic practices, medspas, concierge medicine, senior living and multi location specialty groups.

  • We measure consults, not rankings

A ranking report does not pay your staff. We build every campaign around consultation requests and calls, and we report on those first.

  • You work with named people

You get a dedicated account manager and access to the team, not a rotating support queue.

  • No long-term contract

We earn the next month with the last one. If the audit shows we are not the right fit for your practice, we will tell you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Plastic Surgery SEO

Expect early indicators within 30 to 90 days and meaningful consultation volume between months 6 and 12. The first sign of progress is usually a rise in impressions, meaning your pages are appearing in more searches even before they rank well. Rankings follow, then traffic, then consult requests. How fast depends on how competitive your market is, how old and healthy your domain is, and how many procedure pages need to be built. A practice in a mid-size metro with a technically sound website moves faster than a solo practice in Miami with a site built on a slow template. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either targeting keywords nobody searches for or is not being straight with you.

Our plans start at $750 per month per location for local SEO, $1,500 per month for regional campaigns, and $3,500 per month for national programs aimed at destination practices. Hourly consulting is $200 per hour with a 10 hour minimum for practices that have an internal marketing person and need direction rather than execution. What changes your number is market competitiveness, how many procedures and locations you want to rank for, and the current condition of your website. Across the wider market, rates under roughly $500 per month usually indicate templated or offshore work, which carries real risk on a health topic where Google applies extra quality scrutiny.

Three things. First, cosmetic procedures are elective and cash pay, so there is no insurance directory sending you patients and organic visibility carries more weight. Second, the research cycle is far longer: patients compare surgeons for weeks or months, so you need presence across the whole journey rather than a single ranking. Third, before and after galleries are central to the buying decision in aesthetics in a way they simply are not in most medical specialties, which makes image optimization and page speed disproportionately important. Layered on top of all of it are state medical board and FTC rules governing how outcomes and testimonials can be presented.

In almost every case, yes. A single services page listing twelve procedures can realistically rank for one of them. Twelve dedicated pages can each rank for their own procedure plus the long tail of questions around it, which is where a large share of qualified traffic lives. Each page should cover what the procedure involves, who is a good candidate, what recovery looks like, what it costs, and why patients should choose your practice. The exception is procedures with genuinely negligible search demand in your market, where the effort is better spent elsewhere. We identify which is which during keyword research rather than guessing.

They can, and on most surgical practice websites they currently do. The three most common problems are uncompressed images that push load times past the point where patients abandon the page, galleries built in JavaScript that Google never sees so the images are effectively invisible, and missing alt text that keeps you out of image search entirely. Fixed properly, a gallery becomes one of your strongest assets: it improves time on page, it feeds Google Images where patients spend a lot of research time, and it supports the procedure page it sits on. The fix is technical rather than creative, and it is usually one of the first things we address.

Each location gets its own page with genuinely distinct content, its own Google Business Profile properly optimized and kept consistent with the website, and location-specific structured data. The failure mode we see most often is ten location pages built from one template with the city name swapped, which Google treats as duplicate content and largely ignores. Real differentiation means each page reflects the surgeons who practice there, the procedures offered at that site, local landmarks and service areas, and reviews from that location’s patients. Pricing for multi-location practices is per location, starting at $750 per month.

E-E-A-T stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust. Google states that its systems give extra weight to these signals for topics that could significantly affect a person’s health, safety or finances, which it calls Your Money or Your Life. Cosmetic surgery qualifies. In practice this means content should carry a named author, ideally a board-certified surgeon, with a bio page that resolves and credentials clearly stated. It means visible review dates on medical content, citations to primary sources rather than other marketing blogs, and consistent practice information across your website, your Google Business Profile and directory listings. Practices that treat this seriously often outrank better-known competitors who publish anonymous content.

We write it, your surgeon reviews it. That combination is both faster and stronger than either alone. Our writers handle research, structure and search optimization, then a surgeon at your practice reviews for clinical accuracy and signs off. We publish the content with their name, credentials and the review date attached. Review typically takes 15 to 20 minutes per page. This matters more than it sounds: attaching a board-certified surgeon’s credentials to medical content is one of the strongest trust signals available, and most competing practices are not doing it.

Consultation requests and calls, first. Rankings and traffic are useful diagnostics but they are not the point. Your dashboard shows form submissions and tracked phone calls attributed to organic search, which procedures are producing them, cost per consultation request, and the trend month over month. We also track impressions as an early indicator, because they move before rankings do and tell us the strategy is working weeks before it shows in traffic. If a campaign is producing rankings but not consults, that is a conversion problem and we will say so rather than showing you a green graph.

Some of it, yes, and some of it is genuinely worth doing yourself. Claiming and fully completing your Google Business Profile, asking every satisfied patient for a review, and making sure your practice name, address and phone number are identical everywhere they appear will move the needle and cost you nothing but time. Where practices tend to struggle alone is technical work, competitive keyword research, building a procedure page architecture, and sustaining a publishing cadence alongside a full surgical schedule. A reasonable middle path is hourly consulting, where we build the strategy and your team executes it.

Find out What Your Practice Is Missing

We will crawl your website, review your Google Business Profile and your visibility for the procedures you perform, and send you a prioritized list of what is holding you back. No call required. If you want to talk it through afterwards, we are
happy to.

  • A technical review of your site, gallery and page speed
  • The procedure searches you should be ranking for and are not
  • How you compare to the practices currently outranking you
  • A realistic projection using your own case values

No long-term contract required. We earn the next month with the last one.
