WordPress Website Design FAQs

We Answer Your Questions About WordPress Website Design

Our FAQs address the most common questions and concerns about working with a WordPress website design company so you can make the most informed decision.

WordPress powers more than 40 percent of the web for good reason. It offers a level of flexibility, customization, and SEO control that website builders like Wix and Squarespace simply cannot match. With WordPress you own your site completely. You are not locked into a proprietary platform, you can move hosts, and you have access to a development ecosystem that can handle virtually any requirement from simple brochure sites to complex custom builds with API integrations.

From an SEO standpoint, WordPress gives you granular control over technical SEO elements, schema markup, site structure, and page speed that drag-and-drop builders limit or abstract away entirely. Wix and Squarespace are fine for businesses that want something simple and fast. They are not the right choice when you need a site that performs seriously in search, scales with your business, and integrates with your marketing stack.

Webflow offers more design flexibility than Wix or Squarespace, but has a steeper learning curve for non-developers and a smaller support ecosystem.

We build exclusively on WordPress using the Avada theme, one of the most SEO-friendly, versatile, and actively supported themes on the market. Book a call to talk through whether WordPress is the right platform for your specific situation.

AI website builders and AI-generated code can produce something that looks like a website quickly and cheaply. What they cannot produce is a website built for long-term growth, reliable performance, and ongoing maintenance. The problems show up fast.

AI website builders like Wix AI or Framer AI generate sites on proprietary platforms with the same SEO limitations as their non-AI counterparts. You are still locked into a platform that limits what you can control technically.

AI-generated code dropped into a custom build without a proper CMS, theme, or plugin framework behind it creates a different set of problems. There is no update path, no support ecosystem, no plugin compatibility, and no one to call when something breaks after a Google algorithm update, a WordPress core release, or a security vulnerability.

A website is not a one-time deliverable. It is infrastructure that needs to be maintained, updated, secured, and extended over time. That requires a supported platform with an active development community and a clear update and maintenance path. WordPress with a well-supported theme like Avada has all of that. An AI-generated site, whether from a builder or raw code output, typically has none of it.

If you have been quoted an AI-built site and want to understand what you would actually be getting, book a call and we will give you an honest comparison.

Custom WordPress website pricing depends on several variables, and any agency that quotes you a flat number without understanding your project is guessing. The factors that drive cost are the number of pages and unique layout templates required, whether content creation is included or provided by your team, how much existing content needs to be migrated from your current site, any custom development requirements such as integrations, APIs, or custom functionality, and the total number of weeks the project will take from kickoff to launch.

Larger projects with more pages, complex custom development, and multiple stakeholders naturally require more time and investment than a straightforward ten-page marketing site.

We scope every project individually after a discovery conversation so the estimate you receive reflects your actual requirements rather than a generic package. Book a consultation, and we will walk through your project scope and give you a realistic investment range.

Most WordPress website projects at Lead to Conversion take between eight and twelve weeks from kickoff to launch. That range covers discovery, design, development, content integration, testing, and client review cycles. More elaborate projects with complex custom development, API integrations, large amounts of content, or multiple stakeholders involved in the approval process can take longer.

One of the most common reasons timelines extend beyond the original estimate is delays in client-provided content or assets. If your team is responsible for providing copy, images, or other materials, and those items are not delivered on schedule, the launch date moves accordingly and, in some cases, affects the project cost. We are transparent about this at the start of every engagement so there are no surprises.

If you have a hard launch deadline, that is one of the first things we discuss to make sure the project scope and timeline are realistic. Book a call to talk through your timeline.

Yes. We have migrated sites to WordPress from Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, HubSpot CMS, and custom-coded sites. A migration involves moving your existing content, pages, and where applicable your URL structure, to your new WordPress site without losing the SEO equity you have built on your current domain.

The complexity of a migration depends on how much content exists, how well structured it is, whether your current URLs need to be preserved or redirected, and any custom functionality that needs to be rebuilt rather than simply moved. A simple migration of a small brochure site is very different from migrating a large content-heavy site with years of indexed pages and a complex URL structure.

We assess the scope of the migration as part of the initial project discovery so you know exactly what is involved before work begins. If you are on a platform that is limiting your SEO or holding back your marketing, book a call, and we will walk you through what a migration to WordPress would look like for your specific site.

WordPress is one of the most SEO-friendly platforms available, and yes, every site we build is designed with search performance in mind from the start. We build exclusively on WordPress using the Avada theme, which is one of the cleanest, fastest, and most actively supported premium themes on the market. Avada produces lean, well-structured HTML that search engines can crawl and index efficiently, and it is fully compatible with RankMath Pro, our preferred SEO plugin.

Beyond the platform and theme, our builds include proper heading structure, optimized page speed, mobile responsiveness, schema markup capability, clean URL architecture, and on-page SEO foundations on every page. SEO is not an afterthought we add at the end of a project. It is built into how we structure and develop every site.

If you are also interested in an ongoing SEO program after launch, we offer that as a separate service. Book a call to discuss how SEO fits into your new site build.

During development we host your site on our servers at no additional cost. At launch you have two options. You can purchase your own WordPress hosting from a provider of your choice, in which case we will help you migrate the site to your new host. Or you can enroll in WP SitePlan, our sister brand and WP Engine partner, which handles managed hosting and ongoing support under one plan.

WP SitePlan offers three tiers. The Essentials plan at $59 per month covers backups, maintenance, performance optimization, firewall protection, and malware scans. The Professional plan at $119 per month adds the ability to edit content on existing pages, fix errors and bugs, install and configure plugins, and WooCommerce support. The Enterprise plan at $229 per month adds publishing new blog posts and landing pages using existing templates, updating page layouts, and support for LMS and multisite setups. Hosting on WP Engine’s Google Cloud infrastructure is available as an add-on starting at $80 per month and includes global edge security and speed optimization.

Book a call to discuss which post-launch plan fits your needs.

Content creation is an optional add-on, not included by default. If you want us to write your website copy, we offer content creation on a per-page basis and the cost is factored into your project scope from the start.

If your team is providing content, you are responsible for delivering approved copy, images, and any other required assets according to the project timeline we establish at kickoff. This matters because content delivery is the single most common reason WordPress projects run over schedule. If the content is late, the launch date moves. If delays are significant enough to require our team to extend the project timeline, it can also affect the project cost.

We are upfront about this at the beginning of every engagement because we want the timeline we set together to be one we can actually meet. If you are not sure whether to handle content internally or have us write it, book a call, and we will help you figure out the right approach for your project.

We run every project using an Agile methodology with weekly client meetings so you always know where things stand and nothing moves forward without your input.

The process starts with a Define phase where we learn about your business, goals, target audience, and design preferences. We provide a design questionnaire, collaborate on sitemap and wireframe creation, and develop a Web Kit covering fonts, colors, and creative direction before any design work begins.

From there we move into the Design phase. Our design lead creates a custom brief and produces prototypes that bring your site layout and branding to life. Once design is approved, development begins. We build on WordPress using the Avada theme and implement your content, custom functionality, and SEO foundations throughout the build. Weekly check-ins keep the project moving and give you regular visibility into progress.

A round of internal quality assurance is followed by a client review period where you can request revisions before launch. Once everything is approved, we handle the launch and transition your hosting to your chosen solution.

Most projects run eight to twelve weeks from kickoff to launch. Book a consultation to walk through what the process would look like for your specific project.
